Survivor Voices in Offender Spaces: Post-Sentencing Advocacy for Survivors of Sexual Harm

Post-Conviction Victim Advocacy is a program piloted by The Blue Bench. It was created to help fill the gaps in services identified by survivors of sexual assault once the person who caused harm has been placed on community supervision. The Sex Offender Management Board requires victim representation statewide on teams supervising and treating the person who has caused harm. This workshop will explain what advocacy looks like in the post-conviction phase, how advocates work within supervision teams in Colorado, and the value of using a survivor-centered approach to supervise individuals who have committed sexual offenses within the community.
