Building Bridges: The Intersection of the Refugee and Survivor Experience
Join us for an introduction to refugee services in Colorado. We'll cover the role of the Colorado Refugee Services Program, define key terms and statuses, learn about the core programs & services provided by refugee resettlement agencies and other providers in our network. We'll learn more about our new neighbors, including data on nationality, statuses, language, age, gender and more. We'll provide additional resources for continuing to learn more. We’ll then cover the Family Stabilization Program that spans across the 3 main resettlement agencies in the Denver Metro area. We’ll learn about how this program serves clients at the intersection of the refugee experience, domestic violence, and the advocacy-based counseling model. Staff will explain how they help establish safety and stability in our clients’ lives, enhance their sense of empowerment, and foster their ability to make choices/changes, all while using non-traditional, culturally responsive mental health practices.
